Your Perfect Al Fresco Picnic Party

As soon as the clocks go forward, it’s time to gather your nearest and dearest for a springtime celebration – we’re talking flower-inspired dinner parties, of course. For us, the star of every great dinner party is a fabulous table. Impressive and inviting, a brilliant table can both set the scene and be a great conversation starter. And, in true Freddie’s Flowers style, we believe every great table deserves oodles and oodles of flowers!

So, we’ve put together our top tips for flower-themed table decorations and essential dinner party tips. This is a link.

1- Little and lots

For a fully floral experience, go for a number of smaller vases of flowers (rather than one big one in the middle). Pop a few stems in bud vases, jam jars or pots, and dot them around your table, making sure everyone has some stunning stems nearby.

2- Don’t be afraid of heights

Give your table variety and interest by varying the lengths of your stems. A couple of longer ones here, some shorter ones there – it’ll keep the whole display looking lovely and feeling relaxed… even if you’re not!

Who are you going to invite?

3- Place setting posies

A floral feast doesn’t just have to feature flowers in vases. Pop a few favourite stems in a napkin and use the string from your Freddie’s box to tie them up, for a perfect place setting.

4- Take it off-table

Why only have flowers on your table? Liberate your stems, dotting them all around – on sideboards, dressers, islands, bookshelves…even the downstairs loo. My favourite thing? Weave a little foliage around the back of your chairs, bringing flowers all around you and your guests.

5- A floral dinner party needs a floral dinner

There are loads of amazing ways to bring flowers into the food you serve on a floral table. From edible flowers (such as violas and pansies) to courgette flowers and alliums, whatever course you’re serving there are ways to bring a few flowers into the dish.

Fill your dining room with flowers – the more the merrier!

5- A floral dinner party needs a floral dinner

A delicious drink is an absolute must at any good bash… and you can make your drinks even delicious-er with some floral magic. Whether it’s a dash of elderflower in a gin cocktail, or some rose syrup in a martini, or even a dash of lavender in your lemonade, there’s always a way of getting a little bit of flower fun into your glass.

So there you have it: our top tips for entertaining around a fabulous, floral table. If you’re throwing a spring fling soon, be sure to let us know the ways you’re going to get your flowers involved! Tag us in your Instagram pics of your flower-inspired table for a chance to win a free box of Freddie’s Flowers.
